Today we lost a great writer who had a way with witty dialogue, words so catching that you swore a young person wrote it. 87 year old Elmore J. Leonard Jr. wrote about bounty hunters, con jobs, crime bosses, westerns, and his latest work the FX TV Series 'Justified.' This man influenced a young video store clerk named Quentin Tarantino who latter pay tribute by making a film called " Jackie Brown," which was about the book "Rum Punch." I've read about 6 of his novels, I got ahold of three of them while I was serving in the US Navy; 'Get Shorty, Rum Punch, and 3:10 to Yuma.' Over the years I would rent the movies that Hollywood made from his work, they never felt rich in character like Mr. Leonard so vividly painted with words of betrayal, greed, and the pretty dame who took the money and ran. I just recently bought the novel "The Hot Kid," and I want to read the short story "Fire in the Hole," that introduced the character Raylan Givens that I like from the series 'Justified' My heart goes out to his family. If you ever get a chance pick up one of his books; I promise you will be caught up in the characters and wondering what will happen next.
